Published in 1894, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes was the second collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. It contains 11 stories all of which appeared in the Strand Magazine in 1892-93. Conan Doyle meant The Final Problem to be Sherlock s last chapter. However, much reader demand prompted him to continue Sherlock s adventures and so he wrote The Hound of the Baskervilles next and continued to write more. Following The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes Conan Doyle further published two novels and three collections of short stories featuring Holmes and Watson.
